What Are the Obstacles and How Does QQSR Overcome Them?

Things that impede change

In practice, we work on:

  • Self awareness through feedback:
    • From psychometric assessments
    • 360 reporting
  • Developing self management and social awareness in cognitive behavioural workshops (CBWs)
  • Developing relationship management skills through CBWs and coaching

We explore...

  • Personality characteristics (intraversion/extraversion, openness, etc);
  • Workstyle and conflict management preferences;
  • Common fear patterns;
  • 360 assessments of management competence and failings

We develop ...

  • Reflection capacities and comprehension of how the person typically reacts
  • Assertiveness skills
  • Improved conflict management
  • Capacity for ‘crucial conversations’
  • Improved delegation
  • Skills for self management and organisation

We link development ...

  • Strongly to the actual workplace context through action plans, follow up and coaching.

We develop shared experiences

  • When we use CBWs, these have both an individual and also a team component. Participants:
    • explore stories of success and failure together
    • share learnings and ideas
    • role play and undertake exercises
  • They also follow up the CBWs with group support and discussion networks

We purposively frame leadership group work

  • We ‘make the implicit explicit’ by having a focus upon adaptive leadership and culture as part of the leadership team discussions
  • We use a variety of approaches and devices (work cafe, open space, appreciative inquiry) etc so that every method, models what is desired.
